Why Stay At Sandals Halcyon Beach? What Makes This Saint Lucia Resort Stand Out

If you’re wondering why stay at Sandals Halcyon Beach when there are three Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia to choose from, I completely understand. Halcyon doesn’t always seem like the obvious choice when you first start comparing the resorts. It’s smaller, it doesn’t have the sprawling layout of some Sandals properties, and some of the things that make it special aren’t necessarily the things that jump out at you when you’re scrolling through resort photos.

That’s also exactly why I think people shouldn’t sleep on it. After staying at Sandals Halcyon Beach, I came away liking the resort much more than I expected. There wasn’t one giant feature that won me over. It was the combination of the wonderful staff, the dining, our Shore House Butler room, the tropical gardens, the smaller size and how easy everything felt once we were there.

We also spent time at the other Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia during our trip. We went over, walked around, had some food and drinks, and enjoyed spending time at each of them. It was fun getting to visit the other resorts, but I was always happy to head back to Sandals Halcyon when we were done. We had picked the right resort for this trip, and I was really happy with our choice.

Having been to this resort now, I am so glad that we spent our free week here. This is one of those resorts that is small and intimate, and reminds me so much of Sandals Royal Caribbean( now Sandals Caribbean Cay). I know you may have questions about why you should vacation here, so I will start with the common ones I get from potential clients and move into a more in-depth explanation.

What To Know Before Booking Sandals Halcyon Beach

Once Sandals Halcyon Beach makes it onto your Saint Lucia shortlist, there are usually a few practical questions that come next. These details can help you decide whether the resort fits the vacation you have in mind and make planning a little easier before you arrive.

Choosing the right Sandals Resort is about much more than finding the property with the longest amenities list. Once you know the practical details, the bigger question is whether the resort’s personality fits the way you want to vacation, and that’s where Sandals Halcyon Beach may surprise you.

Now that I have some of the basics covered, let’s talk about why this resort should make your travel itinerary. Don’t take it just from me, but from the many clients I have sent to the resort that have absolutely loved it as well.

The Smaller Size Of Sandals Halcyon Beach Is A Big Part Of Its Appeal

When you’re comparing Sandals Resorts online, resort size probably isn’t the first thing that gets you excited. You’re looking at beaches, pools, room categories, restaurants and all those gorgeous Saint Lucia pictures. But once you’re actually on vacation, the size of a resort can have a much bigger impact on your experience than you might expect.

We stayed in a Shore House Butler room toward one end of Sandals Halcyon Beach, and even from there I could get pretty much anywhere I wanted to go in less than 10 minutes. That meant we didn’t have to think about getting around. If I forgot something in the room, I went back and got it. If we wanted coffee or something to eat, we went and got it. We didn’t have to leave extra time to get to dinner or make a plan for getting from one part of the resort to another. It sounds like such a simple thing, but I really appreciated it as the week went on.

It also didn’t take us long to figure out where everything was at Sandals Halcyon. After a day or two, we knew our way around and had a few favorite places to hang out. I really liked that. If I wanted to run back to the room for something, grab a drink or get something to eat, it was easy.

The Staff Help Give Sandals Halcyon Beach Its Personality

We met some really wonderful people working at Sandals Halcyon. Everyone was friendly, we had some fun conversations during the week, and there were staff members we looked forward to seeing again the next day. They were a big part of why we had such a good time there.

We got to know some of the staff during the week too. We’d see some of the same people around the resort, stop and talk for a few minutes, joke around and say hi when we saw them again. It wasn’t just the people taking care of us in our room either. We had great conversations with people working in the restaurants, at the bars and around the resort. By the end of the week, there were people we looked forward to seeing and a few we were really going to miss when it was time to go home. The staff was a big part of why we enjoyed our week at Sandals Halcyon as much as we did.

So when someone asks me about the staff at Sandals Halcyon, I can only go by the week we spent there, and we had a great experience. We were treated well everywhere we went, from the restaurants and bars to our room and around the resort. I know everyone’s trip can be different, but the staff was one of the things we came home talking about, and that’s something I would want friends or clients considering Sandals Halcyon to know.

Dining At Sandals Halcyon Beach Deserves More Credit

We had some really good food at Sandals Halcyon Beach. We tried several of the restaurants while we were there, found a few favorites, and there was always somewhere we wanted to eat. Dining was one of those parts of the trip that we just really enjoyed.

Kelly’s Dockside was a great anniversary dinner, but we had good meals throughout our stay. There was enough variety that we could have a nicer dinner one night and keep things more casual the next. For a smaller resort, I was really happy with the dining choices we had.

There are other things that made this smaller size resort fit out needs.. We could enjoy our afternoon, go back to the room, get ready and head to dinner without turning it into a whole production. Dining just became part of the vacation. For a smaller resort, we had plenty of choices and some really good meals. I never felt like we were missing out because Halcyon has fewer restaurants than some of the larger Sandals Resorts.

The Right Sandals Halcyon Beach Room Can Change Your Vacation

There are a lot of room choices at Sandals Halcyon Beach, from rooms that keep things pretty simple to swim-up butler rooms and other Butler Elite suites. So you don’t have to spend a fortune on a room if that’s not where you want to put your vacation budget, but there are also some really nice choices if you want to splurge a little.

We stayed in a Shore House Butler room, and I loved our room. We had a private patio with a soaking tub, plenty of space inside, and we were close to the beach. We spent time there during the day too, so it wasn’t a room we only saw when we were getting ready or going to bed. And having butler service was a big part of our trip.

This is also where I can help when I’m working with clients because I’ve actually stayed at Halcyon and spent time walking around the resort. I know where the different room areas are, what they’re close to, and some of the little differences that aren’t always obvious when you’re looking at room descriptions online. There are some great rooms here, but you don’t need the most expensive one to have a great vacation.

Sandals Halcyon Beach Is An Easy Place To Relax

One of the things I liked about Sandals Halcyon was that we didn’t have to have a plan every day. Some days we hung out by the pool, went to the beach, grabbed something to eat and really didn’t do much else. And that was perfectly fine with me. We were on vacation. I am not normally a beach person, but this beach was so relaxing that I even took a guilt-free, uninterrupted nap. That says a lot.

There are activities going on during the day and entertainment in the evening at Sandals Halcyon, so it’s not like everyone is sitting around staring at each other. If something sounded fun, we could go check it out. If we’d rather stay at the pool with a drink or head back to our room for a while, that’s what we did.

Our evenings were pretty simple too. We’d get ready, go to dinner, have a drink and see what was going on around Sandals Halcyon. Some nights we stayed out longer, and other nights we went back to our room. We really just did whatever we felt like doing that day, which is pretty much how I want a Caribbean vacation to be. I have to say, make time for the Beach party on Thursdays. From authentic meals, to great entertainment, to making friends with people, you get a true taste of what Saint Lucia hospitality is.

Staying At Sandals Halcyon Gives You More Than One Resort To Enjoy

One of the nice things about staying at Sandals Halcyon is that we could also spend time at the other Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia. We didn’t spend our whole vacation at one resort, and I really liked having that option.

We went over to the other resorts, walked around, had something to eat, had a few drinks and spent some time enjoying them. It was a fun way to change things up for the day without having to pack a bag or actually move resorts. Then when we were ready, we headed back to Sandals Halcyon.

But I have to say, I was always happy to get back to Sandals Halcyon. We had fun visiting the other resorts, but at the end of the day, I was ready to get back to our room, grab a drink and just hang out. It was nice having the other resorts to visit, but I was happy with where we were staying.

Sandals Halcyon Beach Is Also A Great Home Base For Exploring Saint Lucia

I could spend plenty of time hanging out at Sandals Halcyon and be perfectly happy, but I also think you should get out and see some of Saint Lucia while you’re there. Go see the Pitons, visit a waterfall, learn a little about the island and actually see some of Saint Lucia beyond the resort. We got out and explored during our trip, and I’m really glad we did.

We had the option to book Island Routes excursions depending on how much of Saint Lucia we wanted to experience. That’s another reason I like the idea of Halcyon as a home base. You can spend a day out seeing the island and then come back to somewhere that doesn’t feel overwhelming. Get cleaned up, go have dinner and settle back into the resort.

There are a few extras available at Sandals Halcyon too. Red Lane Spa offers massages and other spa treatments if you want to book one during your stay. SnapShots is available for professional photos, which can be fun if you’re celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary or just want some good pictures together. There’s also the Resort Shop for souvenirs, Sandals Resorts gear or something you may have forgotten to pack. These all cost extra, but they’re available if you want to add them to your trip.

Who Is Sandals Halcyon Beach Really Good For?

After staying at Sandals Halcyon, I can see why some couples are going to love this resort more than others. It’s not about saying Sandals Halcyon is better than the other Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia. It’s about knowing what you like on vacation. If we were sitting together talking about your trip, these are some of the things that would make me think Sandals Halcyon should be on your list.

• You don’t need a party going on around you all day. This doesn’t mean Sandals Halcyon shuts down after dinner. There’s entertainment and plenty going on, but it was also easy for us to grab a drink and hang out without feeling like we needed to be in the middle of everything.
• You don’t want a huge resort. This is probably one of the biggest reasons to look at Sandals Halcyon. You can walk pretty much everywhere without spending half your day getting from one end of the resort to the other. I loved being able to run back to our room, grab something we forgot and be back at the pool a few minutes later.
• You actually want some downtime. There are activities during the day and entertainment at night, but you don’t have to plan your whole day around them. We spent plenty of time at the pool, had drinks, went to the beach and sometimes did absolutely nothing. That’s a vacation too.
• You like a resort with lots of tropical landscaping. Sandals Halcyon has beautiful gardens throughout the property, and you notice them everywhere you walk. If you picture your Saint Lucia vacation with palm trees, flowers and lots of greenery around you, you’re going to get that here.
• You want good choices when it comes to rooms. You can keep the room fairly simple, book a swim-up room or go with Butler Elite service like we did. There are enough choices that we can really look at what you want from the room instead of automatically jumping to the most expensive category.
• You want to see more of Saint Lucia. You don’t have to spend the whole week sitting at Sandals Halcyon. Take an excursion, get out and see the island, or spend some time at the other Sandals Resorts. Then come back, get ready for dinner and enjoy the rest of your night.

Sandals Halcyon Beach Was Better Than I Expected

Before our trip, I knew what we had booked and I was looking forward to staying at Sandals Halcyon. But looking at pictures and reading about a resort only tells you so much. You really don’t know how you’re going to feel about it until you’re there.

We had a really good time at Sandals Halcyon. We found places we liked to hang out, had some great meals, loved our room and met some wonderful people while we were there. We also spent time at the other Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia, but I was always happy to come back to Sandals Halcyon at the end of the day.

We only stayed at Sandals Halcyon once, but we had a really good week there and I would go back. That’s really the reason I wanted to write this post. If you’re looking at the Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia and aren’t sure about Sandals Halcyon, don’t count it out. We were really happy there.

So, Why Stay At Sandals Halcyon Beach?

If you’re still trying to decide if Sandals Halcyon is right for your Saint Lucia vacation, here’s what I would tell you after staying there:

• Stay here if you don’t want to spend half your vacation walking around the resort. You can get from your room to the pool, beach, restaurants and bars without it becoming a whole thing.
• Stay here if good food is high on your list. There are some really good restaurants at Sandals Halcyon, and you have even more choices when you visit the other Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia.
• Stay here if you want choices when it comes to your room. You can keep things simple, book a swim-up room or splurge on Butler Elite. You don’t have to book the most expensive room to enjoy the resort.
• Stay here if you want to relax without being bored. You can join the activities, watch the evening entertainment, hang out at the pool with a drink or decide you’re doing absolutely nothing that afternoon.
• Stay here if the people matter to you. The staff was one of my favorite parts of our stay. We met some wonderful people during our week there, and they really added to the trip.
• Stay here if you want to see more of Saint Lucia. Go explore the island, spend some time at the other Sandals Resorts and then come back to Sandals Halcyon when you’re done.
• Stay here if you want a resort that’s easy to settle into. It doesn’t take days to figure out where everything is or how to get around. We got comfortable pretty quickly, and that made it really easy to just enjoy being on vacation.

Sandals Halcyon isn’t going to be the right resort for every couple, and that’s okay. But if you read through this list and thought, “Yep, that sounds like us,” I would keep Sandals Halcyon on your Saint Lucia list. We had a great week there, and I would happily go back.
