My husband and I are pretty low-key, and I didn’t think having a butler at Sandals Resorts was something we would utilize. We got butler service mainly for the room type, and didn’t think much beyond that. Boy was I wrong, and we love having the service now.

Upon arrival, a staff member will call your butler, who will whisk you away directly to your private suite. No standing in line, no waiting by the front desk, no wasted time—just instant relaxation.
While you sip on your welcome cocktail in the comfort of your suite, your butler will handle your luggage and ensure every detail of your room is absolutely perfect. You’ll receive a personal orientation to the resort as well, so you can settle in quickly.
Need help unpacking or a dress freshly ironed? Your butler has it covered. Want dinner reservations at the best restaurant or your beach chairs reserved for prime sunbathing? They’re already on it. At Sandals Resorts, butlers aim to not only meet your requests but anticipate them.

Craving beachfront dining, a cozy seat at the steakhouse, or the best table in the house? Your butler will handle all your dining reservations. No need to stress about availability—they’ll make sure you’re treated like a VIP no matter where you dine.
I always put my dining reservation wish list in my butler preference sheets. Your butlers will work with the culinary staff to help you as close as possible to your ideal dining list. If they are not able to fulfill your requests, they will get with you upon arrival so you can work on them together.
Reserved Pool or Beach Loungers
Hunting for the perfect beach or pool chair* is a thing of the past. Your butler will reserve the best spots by the pool or on the beach for you, ensuring your lounging time is as relaxing as can be. Be kind and courteous, and only ask for seats saved at one location. If you find you aren’t going to use your chairs, let your butler know.
Your butler will prepare your seats where your ideal location is, and have a customized cooler ready for you. Let your butler know what you prefer at check-in. We also like to make our chair easy to find, so we have customized towels from Etsy that we use to mark them. I also have towel clips from Amazon for a fun touch. Our butlers will mark our chairs with these items and don’t have to worry about finding us to let us know where they are. This frees them up to help their other guests.
*For guests staying at Sandals Ochi, butlers are unable to reserve beach or pool chairs. At Sandals Royal Plantation, your butler cannot reserve pool chairs.

Our butler Tenneil at Sandals Dunn’s River had this uncanny knack for knowing when I was ready for a drink. The first day we had a butler, I had gone to the swim up bar myself for a drink. After that, it seemed he knew exactly when I was getting thirsty and I would look up and see him at the edge of the pool with my favorite drinks.
One day he brought us a fabulous lunch selection to our pool chairs and it was the perfect way to enjoy a delicious meal without ever leaving our chairs. He really went above and beyond to learn our likes and dislikes, and he made our first experience so amazing that 4 out of our 5 upcoming reservations are butler level.

Your butler ensures a smooth arrival, from private check-in directly in your suite to handling your luggage and making sure you start your vacation relaxed and hassle-free. One of the things I love about this is getting the in-room check-in. When you already do the online check-in at Sandals Resorts, it is so stress free!
Butlers will also unpack your luggage for you, but we never did that. Need something that requires pressing but don’t feel like doing it yourself? Your butlers can take your items and get it done for you. One of those things that you didn’t realize were part of what Sandals Resorts butlers can do for you.
Romantic Gestures and Tailored Experiences
Sandals butlers take romance to another level. They’ll sprinkle rose petals on your bed, set up bubble baths, or arrange a candlelit dinner for you and your partner on the beach—making your stay extra special.
We were celebrating my birthday at resort, and my butlers made it super special from the moment we walked in the room to our last night. They followed my butler preference request for where & when I wanted my birthday celebration. So awesome and so easy! Hubs only had to be there with me, and didn’t have to sweat the details.
Dinner and Excursion Reservations
Dreaming of indulging in a spa experience, trying a catamaran trip, or taking a sunset cruise? Your butler has the local knowledge to recommend and book experiences that suit your every whim. You can also visit the Island Routes excursion desk.
Your butler can also make sure that you are signed up for any of the exclusive events that the butler team holds, events hosted by Club Sandals, or make sure you have your snorkeling excursion booked with the Aqua Desk.
They Are A Phone Call Away For When You Need Them
You’ll be given a special cell phone to contact your butler during their working hours. Whether you’re relaxing in your suite or exploring the resort, they’re just a quick call away. If you’d prefer privacy, simply let them know, and they’ll accommodate your preferences.
Guests staying in the over-the-water bungalows get 24-hour butler service, while most other butler service runs from 8AM-10PM. I always check in with my butlers when they are escorting us to dinner for plans for the next day, and whether or not we need to make any adjustments.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Butler Service

Communicate Your Preferences
One of the most important things to do is fill out your butler preferences prior to arriving on resort. Feel free to share your likes, dislikes, and any special requests upfront. The more they know, the better they can personalize your experience. If you have food allergies, please indicate them here. When you arrive on resort, take a moment and go over your preferences with your butler so there is a clear & open communication.
Use the Butler Cell Phone For Maximum Benefits
Don’t hesitate to call your butler whenever you need something, whether it’s reserving a dinner spot or arranging for a drink by the pool. Sending a text to request something or to send a thank you to your butlers is an easy way for you to maximize your vacation time. I always suggest taking a waterproof bag to keep your butler phone in. I also use our KYSS bag to keep everything safe when we are pool or beach side.
Be Clear With Your Butlers About When You Don’t Want To Be Disturbed
If you’d prefer not to be contacted at certain times, just let your butler know. This ensures they’ll accommodate your vacation style. I tend to get up earlier on vacation than my husband, so even if we have butlers, I tend to be out and about first thing in the morning. So that means we are early to bed kind of people. I let our butlers know so that they can do turn down service earlier.
Don’t Forget To Show Your Butlers Your Appreciate The Work They Are Doing
While gratuities aren’t required, tipping is a great way to show appreciation for their outstanding service. Butlers are the exception to the Sandals Resorts tipping policy, and should be tipped according to how well they are doing for you.
We bring thank you cards with us to tip our butlers at the end of our stay. We keep track of everybody over the course of the week, and tip the butlers on the last shift they work with us. Each butler gets an amount based on the service they give us. So it is up to you what you want to give. In my post about the tipping policy, I do share a general guideline but there is no hard and fast rule.
Pro Tip: Keep a small notebook with you and keep track of what each butler does for you. Use that as a guide to how much you want to tip each butler. Don’t think you need to give each butler the same amount. On rare occasions, you may have a third butler who is covering shifts if you assigned butler team is unavailable. Plan accordingly.
Relax and Enjoy
Trust your butler to handle the details—you’re on vacation, after all! Give them a chance to do all the little things for you. But be aware that no where is perfect. If you are not happy with the service you are receiving, first and foremost, talk with your butlers first.
If they are still not understanding what your concerns are, go to the butler manager or send a message on GINA. If that doesn’t help, please ask to speak to the general manager. Don’t run to social media and start bashing your butlers before you give them to make changes. They are human and are not mind readers, so give them a chance to remedy their mistakes.
What Your Sandals Resorts Butler Cannot(Or Should I Say Shouldn’t?!?) Do
If you are traveling with friends who are not paying for butler service, please do not make your butler do things for them, even if they are willing to tip. By doing this, you are taking butler services away from guests who are paying $1000s more for this service. It also puts your butlers in an awkward position with not wanting to say no and possibly impacting their tip. Don’t be that person. I always recommend that if you travel in a group, everyone should have the same level of service.
