If you’re planning a family vacation to the Jersey Shore and looking for something fun, relaxing, and easy to add to your day, Starlux Mini Golf in Wildwood NJ is one of those can’t-miss spots. It’s become a yearly tradition for our family. We go every summer, and there’s always a lighthearted competition to see who gets bragging rights until next time. Just a half block from the Wildwood Boardwalk and right across from the iconic Wildwood sign, this colorful little corner of town packs in a whole lot of family fun.
If you have been on my blog for any amount of time, you know that my family and I absolutely adore our vacations to Wildwood NJ. We have been going to Wildwood since the Summer of 1999, and with the exception of 1 year (we all know which year that was), it’s one of our favorites.

Today I thought I would share with you one of our favorite things to do in Wildwood NJ: our family mini-golf tournament at Starlux Mini Golf. Since it’s opening in 2016, I can proudly say I have lost every year and plan on keeping that streak going for yet another year. Let’s talk about why this is a place you need to check out when you vacation in Wildwood!
Frequently Asked Questions About Starlux Mini Golf in Wildwood for Families
If you’re getting ready to visit Starlux Mini Golf and want to make sure your day goes smoothly, these are some of the most common questions families ask. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, planning an evening outing with teens, or just looking for a laid-back activity after the beach, these answers will help you feel more prepared.
Comfort is key. Lightweight clothing, sneakers, or flat sandals with good grip work best. If you’re visiting during the day, sunscreen and hats are a good idea since parts of the course are in direct sun. In the evening, a light sweater can be helpful as the ocean breeze can cool things down quickly.
Yes, the courses are wide and open enough to accommodate strollers, though some minor elevation changes and decorative features might require you to maneuver around. If you’re visiting with a little one, a compact or umbrella-style stroller is easiest to navigate.
Starlux Mini Golf doesn’t have a strict food policy posted, but it’s best to enjoy snacks either before or after your round. Since Kohr Bros Frozen Custard is right next door, most families treat themselves afterward rather than bring food in during play.
Reservations are not required. Starlux Mini Golf operates on a walk-up basis. That said, weekends and evenings in peak summer season can be busy, so arriving earlier in the day or on weekdays is a good way to avoid a wait.
Yes, there are public parking lots and metered street parking nearby. If you’re staying at a nearby hotel or motel, walking is often easier, but if you’re driving in just for mini golf, plan to allow a few minutes to find a spot, especially on weekends.
Once you’ve got those questions covered, you’re ready to jump into a game and start making some vacation memories. Whether it’s your first time or part of your family’s yearly tradition, Starlux Mini Golf makes it easy to relax, laugh, and enjoy the fun side of Wildwood together.

What Makes Starlux Mini Golf a Top Family Activity in Wildwood?
There’s something extra charming about this mini golf course that sets it apart from others at the shore. Starlux is clean, vibrant, and designed with thoughtful details that make it feel like part of Wildwood’s classic personality. It’s built around a retro theme, and everything from the oversized sandcastle sculptures to the vintage signs adds to the experience. Whether you’re teeing off mid-morning with the kids or finishing a long beach day with a round under the lights, the whole atmosphere is lighthearted and full of nostalgia.
Each of the three courses has its own theme, and they’re all well-maintained, playful, and unique. The layout gives families plenty of room to move at their own pace, and with so much to look at, it’s just as fun to wander through as it is to play. Even if you’re not normally into mini golf, it’s hard not to get into the spirit once you’re there.
Exploring the Three Unique Courses at Starlux Mini Golf
Each course at Starlux Mini Golf brings something a little different to the table, which is part of what makes it so fun for families. Whether you’re playing with young kids, competitive teens, or a mix of all ages, there’s a course that fits your crew perfectly. From beachy décor to ocean-themed features and retro boardwalk charm, these three courses offer more than just mini golf. They’re woven right into the Wildwood vacation experience and are the kind of places that leave everyone smiling by the end.
The Beach Course: Perfect for Young Kids and Beginners
The Beach Course is bright, cheerful, and packed with oversized beach-themed props like sandcastles, beach balls, and surfboards. It captures the vibe of a sunny day by the sea without any sand sticking to your feet. The holes are fun but not too tricky, which makes this course ideal for families with younger children or those who just want to take it easy. The massive sand dune centerpiece adds a fun photo moment too.

The Ocean Course: A Fun Challenge for Older Kids and Teens
If your family loves sea creatures and watery scenes, the Ocean Course is going to be a favorite. With giant fish, fountains, and coral-inspired design elements, it feels like a playful underwater adventure.

The holes on this course tend to have a little more complexity, which makes it great for older kids or anyone who’s up for a bit more of a challenge. At night, the water features light up, adding a cool glow that makes the whole setting feel even more magical.

The Ocean course is definitely my nemesis, but I love playing it because it is mostly under the cover of shade. If you need to choose between the courses during the day, I highly recommend the Beach and Ocean courses for the most comfortable experience.
The Boardwalk Course: Wildwood History with a View
Perched slightly higher than the other two, the Boardwalk Course gives you a nice view and plenty of nods to Wildwood’s past. Think vintage signage, colorful palm trees, and little trivia questions at each hole. This one is a favorite for multigenerational groups because it brings out stories from parents and grandparents who remember Wildwood back in the day.

It’s also perfect for sunset rounds, with the lights twinkling and the breeze coming in off the ocean.

I highly recommend this course if you plan on playing a round once the sun goes down. And quizzing each other on the Wildwood facts is a lot of fun as well!
Convenient Location Near the Wildwood Boardwalk
One of the best things about Starlux Mini Golf is how easy it is to get to. It’s just a half block off the Boardwalk and directly across from the Wildwood sign, which means it fits right into whatever else you’re doing that day. You can play a round before dinner, after the beach, or as a mid-day break from the sand. It’s an especially good option if you’re staying nearby and want to spend time outdoors without committing to a full-day activity.

The course is also close to some of Wildwood’s best pizza, fudge, and arcade stops. Great places to eat can round out your fun family adventure. You can easily make it part of a full evening out, with minimal walking and no need to move the car once you’re parked.

Cool Off With Kohr Bros Frozen Custard After Your Game
Right next to the course is one of our favorite post-round stops, Kohr Bros Frozen Custard. This local favorite has been around since 1919 and is known for its creamy swirls in classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and orange sherbet. We always treat ourselves to a cone after we finish playing, whether we’re celebrating a win or just cooling off. There’s nothing quite like enjoying soft-serve under the string lights while you go over the scorecard with the kids.
