My husband and I first encountered Sandals Resorts back in 1997 when we were looking for a honeymoon destination. We stayed at the Royal Jamaican (now known as Sandals Royal Caribbean), and really did have the time of our life. We said that we would come back for our 20th anniversary, and when we did, it started our full love of the resort brand.

Why Jamaica Is a Great Island to Visit
Jamaica is one of those destinations that stays with you long after you leave. The island is known for its stunning beaches, turquoise water, and lush mountain views, but what really makes it special is the warmth of its people. Everywhere you go, you’re greeted with smiles, laughter, and that unmistakable Jamaican rhythm that instantly puts you at ease.
Beyond the beaches, Jamaica offers something for every type of traveler. Adventure seekers can climb Dunn’s River Falls, raft down the Martha Brae River, or zipline through the rainforest canopy. Food lovers can taste authentic jerk chicken straight off the grill, sip locally made rum, and try Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain Coffee. For those who simply want to relax, there are endless ways to unwind, from beachside hammocks to oceanfront spa treatments.
What makes it even better is how easy it is to explore. The island has three main airports and a network of highways connecting popular resort areas like Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios. Whether you’re visiting for a long weekend or a full week of sun and sea, Jamaica welcomes you with open arms and plenty of island charm.

Tips For Choosing The Right Jamaica Sandals Resort
Choosing the right Sandals Resort in Jamaica really comes down to what kind of vacation you’re dreaming about. Each resort has its own personality, and the best fit depends on your travel style, budget, and the kind of atmosphere you want. If you love an active vibe with lots of dining and entertainment options, you might enjoy the lively energy of Sandals Montego Bay or Sandals Ochi. If peace and privacy sound more appealing, Sandals Royal Plantation or Sandals South Coast could be exactly what you’re looking for.
Think about location, too. Resorts near Montego Bay are perfect for shorter trips since they’re just minutes from the airport. Ocho Rios and Negril offer a slower pace and beautiful natural surroundings, which makes them great for honeymoons or longer getaways. If you want a mix of relaxation and adventure, Sandals Dunn’s River is a fantastic choice with its modern style and access to Jamaica’s famous waterfalls.
It also helps to look at the room categories and what’s included. Some resorts have swim-up suites or overwater bungalows, while others focus on beachfront rooms or private balconies. Club and Butler Level rooms add a more personalized experience, which can make your stay feel extra special. And of course, don’t forget to check which excursions or activities interest you most, as each area of Jamaica offers something unique to explore.
If you’re still unsure which resort matches your travel style, that’s where I can help. I’ve personally visited every Sandals Resort in Jamaica and can guide you toward the one that best fits your vacation goals. Whether you want adventure, romance, or total relaxation, there’s a perfect spot waiting for you on this beautiful island.

They all look rather fabulous to me! Have you ever stayed in the overwater bungalows? I always love the looks of them (not just these Sandals ones in Jamaica but all the overwater bungalows) but then I wonder if they feel all that private since they are typically situated so close to one another.
I haven’t stayed in them, but I have toured them and they are FABULOUS! My husband wanted to treat me for our anniversary but I said I would rather stay longer than use our budget on them. Someday though! Thanks for stopping in!
Oh, the thought of going……
