There are plenty of beautiful rooms at Sandals Grande Antigua, but the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary offers something a little different. With a separate living room, your own private pool and whirlpool, plenty of outdoor space, and butler service included, this villa gives you a place you may actually want to spend time in instead of simply using your room to sleep and get ready.

Set along beautiful Dickenson Bay, Sandals Grande Antigua combines a gorgeous stretch of beach with two distinct areas, the Caribbean Grove and Mediterranean Oceanview Village. The resort has a relaxed Caribbean feel with plenty of dining, pools, activities, and quiet spots for couples who want to slow things down. With so many room categories and different areas of the resort to choose from, it helps to know a few details before deciding which accommodation is the best fit for your stay.

Before I get into my review of the room, I thought I would answer some common questions about the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary you might be wondering about. It’s hard to decide if a room is right for you, without having all the necessary information.

Questions to Ask Before Choosing the Sandals Antigua Mediterranean LV Butler Villa

The private pool may be what initially gets your attention, but there are other details worth knowing when you are considering the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa at Sandals Grande Antigua. These are some of the practical questions that can help you picture what staying in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary is really like.

These details answer some of the smaller questions you may have, but choosing a room at Sandals Grande Antigua is about more than its list of amenities. Staying in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa at Sandals Grande Antigua

I was really excited to stay in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa at Sandals Grande Antigua, especially because having our own private pool gave us a completely different way to enjoy the resort. I loved being able to walk right out of the bedroom and into our pool, relax outside when we wanted some downtime, and still have plenty of space inside the villa. It was nice to head out and enjoy everything around the resort, but I have to admit, having our own little space to come back to made it very tempting to spend more time at the room than we normally would.

Where Is the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa Located?

The Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villas are located in the Mediterranean Oceanview Village, with 10 individual villas positioned around the main Mediterranean pool area. There are five villas on one side of the pool and five on the other, so while you have your own private space, you are still close to the action in this part of the resort.

I really liked the location because we could step outside our villa and easily head to the main pool, restaurants, or make our way down to Dickenson Bay. It gave us a nice balance of having our own private pool sanctuary without feeling tucked away from everything else at Sandals Grande Antigua.

Inside the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa

Walking into the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa, I immediately noticed just how much space we had. This isn’t your typical resort room, it really does feel more like having your own little home for the week. With separate living and sleeping areas, a large bathroom, and direct access to the private pool sanctuary, there was plenty to explore once we got settled in.

Living Room and Fully Stocked Bar

When you enter your room, you will see the living room area. First up, your fully stocked bar area. With a mini-fridge and a stocked to your preferences bar, it’s a great area for grabbing refreshments before heading to the pool area. Our butlers kept it stocked to our preferences and we were so happy with it!

There are also two couches and a coffee table you can use for relaxation. If you are like me and have to work, there is also a desk area that is comfortable and plenty of space to work.

A little caveat about the living room area. It is in classic Caribbean style and not newly updated. We did not find the seating very comfortable so we didn’t spend much time there. Of course, with the pool sanctuary, there really wasn’t any need. But we did love having all the extra space.

Bedroom, Storage and Comfort

As always, the bedrooms features a king sized bed. I always ask for a mattress topper because I like mine soft, and the butler team had it available.

One slight downside to this particular bed is that it is VERY high. I had to launch myself into bed each night which turned into a hilarious bit of fun. Found out that the butlers could get step stools, so I will keep that in mind for the next time.

There was a chest with drawers for clothing. While it was spacious, we could have used a few more drawers or a second dresser for me.

The closet space was adequate, but it was a tight fit with our suitcases. But we had plenty of hangers and the safe for our valuables.

Bathroom, Roman Tub and Walk-In Shower

The bathroom was a spacious area, even if it was a bit outdated. I loved having separate sinks. My side had the lighted make-up mirror that came in handy.

A separate toilet area. It also had a large closet area for extra linens. We never ran out, which is a good thing.

And a jetted tub that was so relaxing.

The Private Pool Sanctuary and Outdoor Space

The private pool was easily the highlight of this villa for us, and it was where we spent the majority of our afternoons. After being out around the resort, we loved coming back, grabbing a drink, getting in the pool, and just hanging out for a few hours. We ended up using the outdoor space much more than I expected, and it quickly became one of our favorite parts of the entire stay. When you are paying extra for a private pool villa, you want to actually use that space, and we definitely did.

The evenings were just as good. After dinner, we would come back and spend time outside, with the hot tub being the perfect way to wind down after a fun day at the resort. Between the private pool in the afternoons and the hot tub at night, this outdoor space was a huge part of our experience and what made the villa feel special to us. There are things about the room itself that I would change, but I wouldn’t change how much we enjoyed this part of it.

There was a table outside that I used a few times when I had to check on clients or send emails.

What Are the Views Like From the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa?

The views from the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa are a little different from what you might expect when you see “Oceanview Village” in the name. From our villa, the private pool and tropical landscaping were really the stars of the view, creating a more secluded feel when we were relaxing outside. You are surrounded by the Mediterranean Village, so I would choose this room for the private pool and villa experience rather than booking it specifically for an ocean view.

Butler Service in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa

Butler service was a big part of our stay in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa and made it easy for us to simply enjoy our vacation without worrying about the little details. Each day, our butler team made sure we had pool seats in the area where we wanted to spend the day, so we never had to get up early and go searching for the perfect spot. They also took care of our dining reservations, not only for us but for the friends traveling with us, which made planning our evenings together so much easier.

It was also the unexpected touches that made the service stand out. One day, our butlers arranged a special lunch just for us, which was such a fun surprise and something we weren’t expecting. That’s one of the things I enjoy about having butler service at Sandals Resorts. Yes, they can handle reservations and help with the practical details, but they also get to know you during your stay and can add those little extras that make the vacation feel even more special. Filling out your butler preferences before you arrive also makes for a better experience.

As someone that never thought that they would like butler service, I am so glad that I decided to give it a chance. The extra pampering really means a lot to us now, for numerous reasons. I still like Club level service when the room is right, but have found that butler service just makes more sense for us at our age.

That is one of the great things about Sandals Resorts vacations, you can vacation what way works best for you and your budget. Why Book the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary?

There are a lot of reasons to consider the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary, but for me, the biggest advantage is that the room becomes part of your vacation instead of simply being where you sleep at night. Having a separate villa gives you plenty of space to spread out, while your own pool and outdoor area give you somewhere completely different to relax when you want a break from the main resort areas.

One of the biggest pros is definitely the private pool sanctuary. I loved being able to walk directly from our bedroom out to the pool whenever we wanted. There was no need to find a chair, pack a bag, or even put shoes on. If we wanted to cool off for 20 minutes before getting ready for dinner, we could. If we wanted to spend a few hours relaxing there, we could do that too. That flexibility was one of my favorite things about staying in this villa.

My husband was absolutely in love with the hot tub, it warmed my heart so much to see him relaxing in it. He works so hard, so to have a space where he could truly relax meant so much to me. And that made the upgrade to this room worth it to me.

The extra space is another major advantage. Having a true one-bedroom layout with a separate living room makes the villa feel much different from a traditional hotel room. We weren’t sitting on the bed whenever we were in the room, and we had plenty of space to relax, have a drink, or enjoy something from in-room dining. For a longer stay, I really appreciated having separate areas rather than everything being contained in one room.

I also think the location within the Mediterranean Oceanview Village is a big plus. Even though you have the privacy and space of an individual villa, you aren’t isolated from the rest of the resort. With five villas on either side of the main Mediterranean pool, it was easy for us to leave our private space and be back in the middle of the resort whenever we wanted.

And then there is butler service, which really complements this particular room. Our butlers handled our pool seating, dining reservations and plenty of other details throughout the week, but we could also enjoy the privacy of our villa when we wanted time to ourselves. For me, that combination of extra space, a private pool, a convenient location and butler service is what makes the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa stand out.

Who Is the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa Good For?

I think the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa is a great choice for couples who want their room to be part of the vacation experience, not just somewhere to sleep. If you love the idea of having your own private pool, enjoy having extra space to spread out, or simply want somewhere quiet to retreat to during the day, this room checks a lot of boxes. I also think it is a great option for a honeymoon, anniversary, or another special trip when you want to splurge on a room that feels a little more special.

We splurged on this room just to try it. We have never stayed in the highest level room before, and with both of us working extremely hard this year, it was worth it. My love of butler service and being disconnected really helped make this room even more special. And traveling with our good friends and them being in the same room category, just made it more special.

Why You May Not Want To Book This Room

While there was a lot I enjoyed about the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa, there are a few things I think you should know before booking it. This is one of the older-style accommodations at Sandals Grande Antigua and, at the time of our stay, the villa had not been fully renovated. For a room at this level, some of the finishes and features weren’t quite what I expected. Even something as simple as the shower head felt dated, and the living room furniture was older and not particularly comfortable. None of these things ruined our stay, but they are worth knowing when you are paying for a higher-level butler room.

Another thing to be aware of is the HVAC system. Our villa had the updated system, and we had no issues keeping the room comfortable during our stay. However, not all of the villas had been updated yet. Friends traveling with us had the older HVAC system in their villa and found it difficult to regulate the temperature and keep the room consistently comfortable. This is one of those details you probably won’t notice when looking at room photos online, but it can make a difference once you are actually there. I still think the private pool, amount of space, location, and butler service give this room plenty of appeal, but it is worth knowing that the experience may vary depending on whether your villa has the newer HVAC system.

Things to Know Before Booking the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa

No room is going to be perfect for every couple, and that is especially important to remember when you are considering one of the higher room categories at Sandals Grande Antigua. We really enjoyed our stay in this villa, but there were a few things that surprised me once we were actually living in the space for several days. These are the details I think are worth knowing before you decide if this is the right room for your vacation.

• Furniture is functional, even if it is outdated
• The outdoor area is the highlight of this room
• The bathroom needs updating
• Depending on what villa you get, your HVAC may be difficult to control
• Room 901 is a good room, but is next to a service road and adjacent resort. Had some road noise and entertainment noise. However, this one had the most privacy and full, landscaping for maximum privacy

Is the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa Worth the Upgrade?

Whether the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa is worth the upgrade really comes down to what is most important to you and where you want to spend your vacation budget. There is a lot to love about having your own villa, private pool, extra space, and butler service, but it is also a higher room category. With the overall cost of traveling continuing to add up, I think it is more important than ever to look at the entire vacation budget rather than putting too much of it toward the room.

If having a private pool is something you have always wanted, you plan to spend plenty of time enjoying the villa, or you are celebrating a special occasion, the upgrade may absolutely be worth it. If choosing this room means stretching the budget or cutting back on other parts of the vacation that are important to you, I would consider one of the other room categories at Sandals Grande Antigua. I would rather see my clients choose a room they are comfortable paying for and enjoy the whole vacation than feel like they have to book one of the highest room categories to have an amazing trip.

What Room Would I Recommend at Sandals Grande Antigua?

If the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa isn’t in the budget, don’t feel like you have to splurge to have a great room at Sandals Grande Antigua. One room I would recommend looking at is the Sunset Bluff Poolside Club Level Room. This is an especially good option if having a more recently renovated room is important to you. I also really like its location in the Sunset Bluff area, giving you easy access to the resort while still feeling a little removed from some of the busier areas.

You won’t have the private pool, separate living room, or butler service that comes with the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa, but you are also stepping down to a Club Level room that can leave more room in the vacation budget. You still get Club Sandals concierge service, a stocked in-room bar, a king-size bed, and a private patio or balcony.

For couples who plan to spend most of their days enjoying Dickenson Bay, the pools, restaurants, and everything else around Sandals Grande Antigua, I think the Sunset Bluff Poolside Club Level Room can be a great balance between a nice room, a good location, and what you actually need for the way you plan to vacation. There is also a walk-out version if you prefer easy pool access.

Would I Stay in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa Again?

Yes, I would stay in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa again, but I would probably wait until the villas receive some updates. There are plans that may begin as early as late 2026, and I would love to see what Sandals Resorts does with these rooms. The private pool sanctuary, amount of space, location, and butler service are all big reasons I would choose this villa again. Updating some of the older features would make the overall experience feel much more in line with what I would expect from a room at this level.

Price would also play a big part in my decision. Ideally, I would look for the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa to appear on the weekly 777 Sale and combine those savings with an eligible Island Insiders Club Lounge discount as a returning guest. When you can stack the right available offers, it can make the price of a higher-level room much more manageable. I loved having our own private pool and the extra space, but I would still want the price to make sense within the overall vacation budget before choosing this room again.

Overall, I really enjoyed our stay in the Mediterranean One Bedroom Butler Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary. Having our own pool, plenty of space, a great location, and an amazing butler team made this room a fun part of our Sandals Grande Antigua vacation. While there are definitely a few things I would like to see updated, that wouldn’t stop me from considering this villa again at the right price. The most important thing is choosing a room that fits how you like to vacation and what you are comfortable spending, and I hope sharing our experience helps make that decision a little easier.
