My husband and I did a renew you vows at Sandals Resorts in 2017 for our 20th anniversary. Let me say it was the most emotional moment of our marriage, other than the births of our kids. To this day, we say that our vow renewal was more meaningful than our original ceremony. In fact, we are headed back to Sandals Royal Caribbean in 2027 for our 30th, and we already have another vow renewal planned.
Interestingly enough, before our first vow renewal, it wasn’t on my radar. It wasn’t until I was spending time in the Facebook groups that I learned about it. I had so many questions, and I am hoping this guide will answers some of them for you so that you feel confident when it’s time to book your own renewal of vows.
Questions Couples Have About The Renew Your Vows At Sandals Resorts Experience
Once couples start thinking about renewing their vows at Sandals Resorts, a lot of little questions tend to pop up. Not the big emotional ones, but the everyday things you want to know before deciding if this is something you actually want to do on your trip. These are the kinds of questions people usually ask after they have read the details and are trying to picture what the experience would really feel like for them.
There are no rules when it comes to attire, which is part of what makes this experience feel relaxed. Some couples dress up in traditional wedding style outfits, while others choose lighter, more casual resort wear that fits the setting. The best choice is whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident, especially in a warm, beachside environment.
The ceremony itself is typically short and meaningful rather than long or formal. Most vow renewals last around 10 to 15 minutes, which keeps the moment heartfelt without feeling drawn out. This shorter format helps the ceremony feel natural and allows the day to continue flowing easily.
Sandals Resorts is very experienced with outdoor ceremonies and always has a backup plan in place. If weather becomes an issue, the on site team will work with you to adjust the location or timing so the ceremony can still happen comfortably. Couples often say this flexibility helps them relax and trust the process.
Yes, some couples choose to renew their vows more than once, especially if they celebrate major milestones over the years. Each ceremony can feel completely different depending on the resort, location, and season of life you are in at the time. It becomes less about the ceremony itself and more about marking meaningful moments together.
For many couples, a vow renewal becomes the perfect way to reconnect during a first big adults only trip. It creates a meaningful shared experience while still leaving plenty of time to relax, unwind, and enjoy being together without distractions. It often feels like a reset in the best possible way.
Taking time to think through these questions helps many couples feel more confident about whether a vow renewal fits into their trip in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. Once those small uncertainties are out of the way, it becomes easier to focus on what the experience is really about, celebrating your relationship in a setting that allows you to slow down and be fully present together.

What Renewing Your Vows At Sandals Resorts Really Means
A vow renewal at Sandals Resorts is a symbolic ceremony designed to celebrate your commitment to one another. It is not a legal wedding and does not involve licenses or paperwork. This simplicity is one of the reasons so many couples find the experience appealing. You are free to focus on meaning instead of logistics.
For many couples, renewing their vows is about marking a chapter. It may come after raising children, navigating challenges together, or simply reaching a point where life feels full and worth celebrating. Others choose to renew their vows because they never had the wedding they wanted or because their original ceremony felt rushed or impersonal. Whatever the reason, Sandals Resorts provides a setting where that moment can feel calm, heartfelt, and truly yours.
Because the ceremony takes place during your vacation, it never feels like an interruption. Instead, it becomes part of the overall rhythm of the trip. You wake up knowing the day holds something special, but you are not pulled into a long schedule or surrounded by stress. That balance is what makes the experience resonate so strongly with couples.

Why Couples Choose Sandals Resorts For To Renew Your Vows
There are many destinations that offer vow renewal ceremonies, but Sandals Resorts continues to be a popular choice for couples who want a blend of romance, ease, and consistency. Everything happens in one place, which removes a lot of uncertainty and coordination.
Sandals Resorts is designed specifically for couples, which naturally creates an atmosphere that feels romantic without being forced. Adults only spaces, attentive service, and thoughtfully designed settings all contribute to an environment where renewing your vows feels natural rather than staged.
Another reason couples gravitate toward Sandals Resorts is trust. The resorts have long experience hosting weddings and vow renewals, which means the teams involved understand how to create moments that feel special while still running smoothly. Couples often say that knowing the details are handled allows them to stay present and fully enjoy the experience.
How The Renew Your Vows Experience Works At Sandals Resorts
Once your stay at Sandals Resorts is booked, the vow renewal planning process begins. You work with the Sandals Resorts planning team to coordinate the details of your ceremony during your vacation. This includes selecting your ceremony date, time, and location.
Ceremonies are typically scheduled Monday through Thursday, 9am-2pm. This timing helps keep the atmosphere relaxed and allows the rest of your day to unfold naturally. Many couples plan a spa appointment, a quiet afternoon by the pool, or a special dinner later that evening. There is an option for a later evening ceremony for an additional charge.
On the day of the ceremony, everything is already prepared. There is no setup for you to manage and no timeline to keep track of. You simply arrive at the location and are guided through the experience by the on site team. This structure allows the moment to feel calm and intentional rather than rushed.
What Is Included In A Sandals Resorts Renew Your Vows Package
One of the most reassuring parts of renewing your vows at Sandals Resorts is how much is included. The package is designed to feel complete, not like a starting point that requires endless upgrades.
Here is what is included in the Sandals Resorts Renew Your Vows package.
- Personal vow renewal planning support: A dedicated planning team works with you before arrival to coordinate the details of your ceremony. This includes confirming your ceremony time, reserving your chosen location, and ensuring everything is arranged before you arrive.
- Choice of ceremony location: Couples can select from a variety of on resort locations, which may include beachfront settings, gardens, or gazebo style areas depending on the property. Each option offers a different atmosphere while maintaining a romantic and intimate feel.
- Ceremony setup with seating: The ceremony space is fully prepared with white cushioned Chiavari chairs for you and your guests. The setup is handled entirely by the resort, allowing you to focus on the moment rather than logistics.
- Bouquet and boutonniere: A fresh floral bouquet and boutonniere are included, typically made with white dendrobium orchids. These simple floral accents photograph beautifully and add an elegant touch to the ceremony.
- Pre recorded ceremony music: Music is provided to create a soft, romantic backdrop during the ceremony. This helps set the tone without overwhelming the moment.
- Commemorative vow renewal certificate: Couples receive a symbolic certificate marking the occasion. Many couples choose to frame this as a keepsake from the experience.
- One hour private cocktail reception: After the ceremony, you and your guests enjoy a private cocktail reception. This includes sparkling wine for a celebratory toast, a signature cocktail or mocktail, passed hors d’oeuvres, and non alcoholic beverages. This hour allows everyone to relax and celebrate together.
- Single tier celebration cake: A small cake is included as part of the reception. It provides a traditional celebratory element without feeling excessive.
- Specialty dining experience for the couple: Couples receive a dedicated specialty restaurant dinner with sparkling wine, giving you a quiet and romantic way to continue the celebration.
- Breakfast in bed with mimosas: On a morning of your choice, breakfast in bed is delivered to your room along with mimosas. This slower moment often becomes a favorite memory from the trip.
- Spa savings during your stay: Couples renewing their vows receive a discount on select spa services, making it easy to include a massage or treatment as part of the celebration.

Together, these inclusions create an experience that feels intentional, relaxed, and thoughtfully supported.
How Much It Costs To Renew Your Vows At Sandals Resorts
The Renew Your Vows package at Sandals Resorts is priced at $400 and includes the couple plus up to 8 additional guests, for a total of ten people. This setup works well for couples who want to include children, parents, or a small group of close family or friends while keeping the ceremony intimate and easy going.
If you plan to invite more than 8 guests in addition to the couple, the ceremony becomes subject to Sandals Resorts wedding pricing and policies, with different requirements and costs based on the size of the event. The $400 fee covers the vow renewal experience only, and accommodations, flights, and travel insurance are booked separately as part of your vacation. I tell couples we will book their room first, and then add in this enhancement once the booking is completed.
To Secure Your Date And Time
When you make the decision to add a renew your vows package to your current booking, I will call the Sandals Weddings department to see what is available during your stay. If we discuss it ahead of time, I will go ahead and book the time slot. There is a $250 deposit due at booking, which is non-refundable and is applied towards your total package price. Once I confirm the date and we make the deposit, you will be contacted for your first pre-planning session. You can take the call yourself, or you can have me conferenced in as well. Final payment is due 60 days prior to event taking place.
Choosing The Right Ceremony Location
The ceremony location plays a big role in how your vow renewal feels, and Sandals Resorts offers several beautiful options that allow you to set the tone for the moment. Some locations feel open and airy, others feel tucked away and intimate, and each one creates a slightly different emotional experience. Thinking about how you want the ceremony to feel is often more helpful than focusing on what looks best in photos.
Beachfront ceremonies are a favorite for couples who want something natural and easy going. The sound of the waves, the open sky, and the soft sand underfoot create a relaxed atmosphere that feels effortless rather than staged. These ceremonies often feel very organic, especially for couples who love the ocean or want the setting itself to do most of the work without a lot of added decor.
Garden and gazebo locations offer a bit more structure and privacy while still feeling romantic. These settings tend to feel cozy and intentional, which many couples appreciate if they prefer shade or a more defined space for their guests.
Some Sandals Resorts also offer signature ceremony locations, such as overwater chapels or scenic viewpoints, which add a sense of drama and uniqueness. These locations often appeal to couples who want the setting to feel especially memorable and different from anything they have done before. These locations can be used, but there are additional fees and they vary by location and resort.

The Sandals Resorts on-site wedding team also plans for the unexpected weather changes and always help you pick out a Plan B location. Knowing ahead of time cuts down on stress and disappointment. We needed it for our ceremony and having it decided beforehand made all the difference.
Personalizing Your Vow Renewal Ceremony
Even though Sandals Resorts takes care of the structure, the ceremony never feels generic. This is where couples really get to make it their own, and honestly, it is often the personal touches that people remember most long after the trip is over. You do not need to overthink it or turn it into a production. Small, intentional choices usually have the biggest impact.
Many couples choose to write their own vows, and they do not have to be long or poetic to be meaningful. A few honest sentences spoken in your own words can be incredibly emotional, especially after years of shared life, challenges, and growth. Some couples even bring their original vows and reflect on how life has changed since then, which can be a really touching moment without feeling heavy.
Music, timing, and who you include are other ways to shape the experience. Some couples invite their children to stand with them or participate in a small way, while others prefer a quiet, private ceremony followed by a relaxed cocktail hour with guests. There is no right or wrong approach here.
The key is choosing what feels right for where you are now, not what you think a vow renewal is supposed to look like. The planning team helps guide these decisions in a very easy, no pressure way, which makes the whole process feel supportive rather than overwhelming.
Who A Sandals Resorts Vow Renewal Is Best For
Renewing your vows at Sandals Resorts tends to resonate most with couples who care more about meaningful experiences than putting on a show. It is less about creating an event and more about creating a moment that feels genuine and personal.
- Couples who want something meaningful without pressure: This is ideal for couples who want a heartfelt moment without expectations or formality. It allows you to celebrate your relationship in a way that feels natural, relaxed, and true to who you are now.
- Couples celebrating a milestone anniversary: Whether it is 5 years, 10 years, or several decades together, a vow renewal gives couples a chance to pause and acknowledge how far they have come. Many couples find this especially meaningful when life feels full and busy and time seems to move faster than expected.
- Couples who want time to reconnect: After years of work, parenting, and everyday responsibilities, it can be hard to carve out intentional time together. A vow renewal at Sandals Resorts creates space to slow down, focus on each other, and remember why you chose each other in the first place.
- Couples who enjoy travel and shared experiences: This experience is a natural fit for couples who love traveling together and creating memories rather than collecting things. The vow renewal becomes part of the vacation instead of something that takes over the entire trip.
- Couples who prefer ease over heavy planning: If the idea of coordinating a detailed event feels exhausting, this experience is especially appealing. Sandals Resorts handles the structure and flow, allowing you to show up and enjoy the moment without managing timelines or details.
Who May Want To Skip A Vow Renewal At Sandals Resorts
While renewing your vows at Sandals Resorts is a great fit for many couples, it is not the right experience for everyone. Being honest about what you want helps set the right expectations and leads to a much better overall experience.
- Couples who feel pressured to do it: A vow renewal works best when it is something you truly want to do, not something you feel obligated to plan. If it does not feel like the right season of life, it is okay to skip it or revisit the idea later.
- Couples looking for a large or highly customized event: If you are envisioning a big celebration with extensive decor, a long guest list, and detailed personalization, this experience may feel too streamlined. The focus here is on simplicity and meaning rather than creating a full scale event.
- Couples who want a legal or formal ceremony: A vow renewal at Sandals Resorts is symbolic, not legal. Couples who need official documentation or want a traditional religious ceremony may want to explore other options.
- Couples who prefer full control over every detail: While there is flexibility, the structure is handled by the resort. If having complete control over timing, layout, and logistics is very important to you, this experience may feel more guided than you would like.
- Couples who are not looking for a shared moment: This experience is best suited for couples who want to intentionally celebrate their relationship together. If the idea of a reflective or emotional moment does not resonate right now, it may not feel as meaningful.
What The Day Of Your Vow Renewal Feels Like
The day of your vow renewal at Sandals Resorts tends to feel calm in a way that surprises a lot of couples. There is no rushing, no long timeline taped to a mirror, and no feeling like you need to be anywhere except right where you are. You wake up knowing something meaningful is coming, but the day still feels like a vacation day.

You might linger over coffee, take a walk on the beach, or sit together quietly before getting ready. Everything is already taken care of, which makes it easier to stay present and enjoy the anticipation instead of feeling nervous or distracted. I spent the morning by the pool with a book before our ceremony.
When it is time for the ceremony, the moment feels intimate and genuine, not performative. Couples often say it feels more emotional than they expected, not because it is dramatic, but because it is real. Standing together, speaking words that reflect years of shared life, tends to hit differently than it did the first time around. Afterward, the cocktail hour feels relaxed and joyful, like a natural exhale.
There is laughter, clinking glasses, and that soft feeling of having done something meaningful together. The rest of the day unfolds easily, whether that means a quiet afternoon, a special dinner, or simply sitting together knowing you created a memory you will carry long after the trip ends.
My Personal Vow Renewal Experience
I wanted to share our experience so you have a little idea what it might look like for you. Our pre-planning session was good, but the majority of all the decisions were made on resort with the wedding team. From locations, to cake testing, to music, everything was laid out in a relaxed environment.

The day of our vow renewal was our actually anniversary, and we scheduled the renewal of vows for the same time. It was absolutely crazy that I was as nervous as our wedding day. Can you imagine that? But considering what we went through over the past 20 years, the fact that we still wanted only each other was enough to recreate the wedding anticipation.
I spent the morning by the pool, and then had my hair and makeup done at the Red Lane Spa. I can’t recommend them enough, and plan on doing that again in 2027. I don’t think I could have gotten the right beachy look on my own.
Of course, we needed plan B because it was an unusually rainy May, but because we had it all decided during our session, it wasn’t a big deal. I was still nervous though, but the wedding team was fantastic and it was perfect.
We opted to combine some words from the Pastor with our own vows. I am sitting here tearing up thinking of the moment when I was giving my vows and seeing my husband with tears pouring down his cheeks; you truly don’t know how emotional a vow renewal can be until you are in the middle of one.

Afterwards, we had our first dance together before heading off to our little reception with drinks and some appetizers. It was the perfect conclusion to this incredibly powerful and emotional experience. Our photographer took us around for some photos, and then we hung out at the piano bar until it was time for our private dinner.

We had a special menu for our private dinner, which we picked out during our on-site planning session. It was delicious and wonderful and we had lots of people stopping by to congratulate us and give their best wishes.
The next day we enjoyed a breakfast in bed (well we actually ate at our in room table) to round out this amazing experience. I was so sad to leave to come home the next day because of how wonderful the entire ceremony went. And why I highly recommend doing one yourself for a milestone anniversary!

We had a lot of drama associated with our first wedding. I know a lot of readers can relate to that. Believe me when I say that the entire experience with a vow renewal at Sandals Resorts was so meaningful, even more than our original wedding. We often joke that we should have just gotten married at a Sandals Resorts from the get go!
Is Renewing Your Vows At Sandals Resorts Right For You?
Renewing your vows at Sandals Resorts tends to resonate most with couples who are looking for a meaningful moment without stress or expectations. It is not about getting everything perfect or putting on a performance. It is about connection, slowing down, and giving yourselves space to acknowledge everything you have shared together so far.
This experience works especially well for couples who love the idea of celebrating their relationship in a beautiful setting while having the details handled for them. It allows the moment to feel organic and unforced, more like a natural extension of your vacation than a planned event. For many couples, it becomes one of the most memorable parts of the trip, not because it was elaborate, but because it felt genuine and true to who they are now. Some combine it with excursions to make it even more meaningful. Whatever you are looking for, you can make it your own.
Renewing your vows here is less about looking back and more about standing in the present together. It is a chance to pause, reflect, and intentionally choose each other again in a way that feels calm, heartfelt, and personal. If the idea of sharing a quiet, meaningful moment together in paradise feels right, then this experience may be exactly what you are looking for.
