Le Voyageur Motel In Wildwood NJ: What You Need To Know
One of our favorite family trips each year is our trip to Wildwood, NJ. From the minute we leave our current trip, we are already counting down to the next one! And why is that? Well, the place we stay at, of course. For over 20 years now we have been staying at the Le Voyageur Motel Wildwood. It is the true epitome of a family-friendly accommodation.
It is almost unheard of that a family stays at the same motel as long as we have. There were only 2 times we weren’t able to because of work schedules, and those places will never compare to the Le Voyageur Motel.

My entire family and I cannot recommend this location enough. We stayed here before the current owner bought the property from the original owners. The location is amazing, the staff are phenomenal, and the convenience to all kinds of things just can’t be beat.

Let’s Tour A Room At Le Voyageur Motel Wildwood
Back when we started staying here, the motel had a separate guest house that it allowed regulars like us to stay at. It was perfect for our family of 7, space for everyone. But the new owner had a different vision for the motel and decided it wasn’t needed. A sad day for us, but the new addition to the motel is terrific.
We stay in the original building that was part of the motel. While we can’t stay in one place anymore, the hotel manager always makes sure we are in side-by-side rooms for our stay. Rosie is absolutely amazing, and she always makes us feel welcome and one of the reasons we ALWAYS come back!
When you enter the room, you will see a table and chairs and the bed in the front room.
My husband and I always stay in the front room. These rooms have been completely refurbished. The only downside is the wrap around the bottom of the bed. It is there so things don’t get stuck underneath. But it’s metal. And it vibrates loudly every time you kick it. And scares you.
If you enjoy sleeping with a fan, pack your own. There are no fans in either room. If you are staying in the front room, the air does not often reach it. If you bring your own fan, you can set it on top of the fridge to try to circulate the air better, as they have not installed ceiling fans in any of the rooms after the renovations.
The back bedroom has a king-sized bed that our boys share.
There is also a closet area and dresser in the back room. For the ladies that need a full-length mirror, there is one on the wall in here.
A side note, for whatever reason, when they redid these rooms, there is no door separating the two rooms anymore. So, if someone wants to go to bed early, they are at the mercy of whatever is happening in the other room. The only place for privacy is the bathroom.
The bathroom is completely redone and serves its purpose. The only downside is that is not convenient for getting ready when you have to do your hair and makeup.
The ledge is the only space for storing bathroom toiletries. I ended up moving the pretty lotion display to the top of the closet in order to have space for our stuff.
There is a dresser in the front room for clothes. With 2 people sharing that space, there could be a larger dresser available for clothes. I haven’t unpacked yet in this picture, but the suitcases end up being stored in the closet area.
There is also a full-sized fridge which is really convenient for storing drinks and the leftovers you get from the restaurants. There is also a microwave for reheating leftovers.
There is also a closet area across from the bathroom where we hang clothes and store all our suitcases.
And here is a view from the back bedroom to the front door.
All the spaces are functional for our family, and they meet the needs we have. After all, we spend the majority of our time on the Boardwalk or at the pool. And the location of these rooms is great for afternoon naps because there is no one above us.
The housekeepers Wanda and Lilly keep our room spotless each day. Compared to other motels we have stayed at in Wildwood, we ALWAYS have the correct number of towels, they are timely and always try to clean our rooms when we are out in the mid-morning until lunchtime, and they are always so friendly.
A Look At The Pool Area At The Le Voyageur Motel Wildwood
First and foremost, there is a great pool! Fun by day, and beautiful by night (for safety’s sake, there is no night swimming permitted), it is a great place to relax if you love clean pool water.
There is also a lift to help get in and out of the pool if you need assistance.
There is a shallow end with a fence so that your little ones can enjoy and remain safe. Keep in mind there is no pool lifeguard, so swimming is at your own risk, and you need to watch your children.
For the parents that want to read and relax, there are lounge chairs available around the pool and they also play music. Somedays it’s oldies, some days it is lighter rock. All in all, it is a very relaxing place to spend a sunny day if you don’t go to the beach.
I will add, depending on who is there and how well they are watching their kids, there can be a lot screaming going on at the pool. It never bothers us, but I wanted to let you know so you can make a decision that is right for your family.
The pool is also always clean, and well-taken care of, which you don’t see a lot of times. I always enjoy going in and then relaxing poolside with a good book.
Other Outdoor Spaces At The Motel
Something added to the outdoor space at the hotel is an area for barbequing and picnicking.
This is a really great idea if you have a larger family with you or are there in a group. You can grill up your food and enjoy it while overlooking the pool area. You just need to ask Rosie in the office for the supplies, and you are good to go. You are responsible for your own clean-up afterwards so make sure that you do.
New for 2024: The elevator is working in the new building. If you are staying on the second floor of the old motel, you will have access to these rooms via the elevator. Just ask Rosie for an elevator key card that you can use during your stay.
I hope you enjoyed the post about our highly recommended and loved accommodations in our “second home” in Wildwood. The Le Voyageur Motel has everything you need in a motel, plus so much more!
