Beaches Resorts really has everything to offer families of all ages. And if you don’t have kids, it’s still a lovely resort to visit. We went with our adult kids back in September 2024 and it was one of our best family vacations. I really can’t wait to go back, and today I am sharing my best tips to get you ready for your vacation.
Extra Travel Tips for a Stress-Free Beaches Vacation
Even with all the big details covered, there are always a few extra questions that come up when you’re planning a Beaches Resorts vacation, especially if it’s your first time. Whether you’re wondering about packing smart, handling laundry, or how to keep cool during outdoor fun, these quick answers cover those small but important things that can make your trip feel even smoother.
If you’re hoping for a more relaxed vibe with fewer guests, try traveling during early May, mid-September, or the first two weeks of December. These shoulder season windows still offer great weather, lower rates, and less competition for dining reservations and loungers.
Yes, you can! While Beaches offers a wide range of dining options (even for picky palates), it’s totally fine to bring pre-packaged snacks for the plane, room, or excursions. Just avoid fresh produce or meats, which may not be allowed through customs.
Nope! Beaches Resorts are cashless, and all your purchases will be charged to your room. That said, it’s helpful to carry a few small U.S. bills for tipping airport porters or for use during off-property excursions.
Yes, each resort has self-service laundry areas and paid valet laundry service. For longer stays, this can be a huge help, especially if you’re traveling with kids. Pack a small bag of travel-size detergent if you prefer to do your own quick wash mid-week.
Start activities early in the day when it’s cooler, wear lightweight clothing in breathable fabrics, and keep a refillable water bottle with you. Most restaurants and beach bars offer plenty of shaded seating, and don’t forget that splash pads and misting stations are perfect for kids to cool off between swims.
Sometimes it’s the little things that help the most, especially when you’re trying to keep everything running smoothly for your family. If you still have questions or want help personalizing your Beaches vacation, I’m here to guide you through it. From the moment we book until you’re back home with sandy shoes and full hearts, I’ll help make sure every detail is in place so you can simply relax and enjoy.

Room Selection Tips To Make Sure You Are In The Ideal Room
Picking the right room can make a huge difference in your family’s vacation experience. Here’s what you need to know:
- Family Size Matters: Consider how many people are traveling and sleeping arrangements. Beaches offers everything from standard rooms to multi-bedroom suites and villas. If you have young kids, look for family suites with separate sleeping areas. Traveling with teens? They might appreciate their own space in a connecting room.
- Location, Location, Location: At the larger Beaches Turks & Caicos, the different villages each have their own vibe. The Caribbean and French villages are usually more lively and closer to the water park – perfect if you have younger kids who aren’t fans of long walks. The Italian village is centrally located with beautiful rooms. The Key West village offers a more relaxed setting with gorgeous accommodations.
- Service Level Options: Beaches has three service tiers – Luxury, Club, and Butler. Luxury includes all the standard all-inclusive amenities. Club adds concierge service, access to the Club Beaches lounge, in-room mini-bars with premium spirits, and help with reservations. Butler service provides personal butlers who can unpack your bags, reserve beach chairs, make dinner reservations, and more. For first-timers with kids, Club level often hits that sweet spot of special treatment without the premium Butler price.
- Travel Agent Advantage: Booking through a specialized travel advisor (like me!) offers major benefits. We can help navigate all these room options, find the best promotions, and provide inside info on which locations will work best for your family. We can also set up special celebrations, dining reservations, and excursions before you arrive.
- Room Views: Ocean view rooms are gorgeous but come with a higher price tag. Garden views are more budget-friendly and often just a short walk to the beach or pools.
- Consider Your Schedule: If your family rises early or needs afternoon naps, room location becomes even more important. Being too close to entertainment venues might mean noise when you’re trying to get little ones to sleep.
Packing Smart for Your Trip
Island packing is different from other vacations! Here’s what you need to bring (and what you can leave at home):
For daytime, pack multiple swimsuits (they don’t dry quickly in humid Caribbean air), breathable clothing, and cover-ups for walking between the beach and restaurants. Most daytime spots are fine with casual wear, including swimwear with appropriate cover-ups.
Evening attire varies by restaurant. Most require “resort casual” – think collared shirts, nice shorts or pants for men, and sundresses or blouses with skirts/pants for women. A few fancy restaurants have a “resort evening” dress code, requiring closed-toe shoes and long pants for men and dressier outfits for women. Pack at least one outfit that meets these requirements if you want to try the fancier places like Le Petit Chateau.

Sun protection is absolutely essential and expensive to buy at the resort. Bring plenty of high-SPF sunscreen (reef-safe is best), hats with brims, quality sunglasses, and rash guards/swim shirts for the kids who’ll be spending hours in the water. Consider bringing your own beach toys and flotation devices, though the resort does provide basic pool toys and life jackets.
While Beaches provides basic toiletries, bring any specific products you prefer and all necessary medications in their original labeled containers. A small medical kit with band-aids, pain relievers, antibiotic ointment, anti-diarrheal medicine, and motion sickness remedies can be a lifesaver. If you’re traveling with babies, bring enough diapers, wipes, and formula for your stay – these items are pricey at resort shops.
For tech and entertainment, waterproof phone cases protect your devices near the pool and beach. Portable chargers are great for days spent away from your room, and tablets or games can be lifesavers during airport delays or quiet time. The resorts have free Wi-Fi, but quality varies depending on where you are.
You can leave bulky beach towels at home (they’re provided at towel huts throughout the resort), as well as hairdryers and irons (supplied in your room). I’d also recommend leaving expensive jewelry behind – the casual atmosphere doesn’t call for it, and you’ll have one less thing to worry about.
Your Pre-Trip Checklist
Getting your documents and plans in order before you go will save you headaches later:
- Make sure all travel documents are current. Everyone traveling, including babies, needs a valid passport with at least six months validity beyond your travel dates. If you’re traveling with kids who aren’t your biological children or if only one parent is traveling with a child, bring documentation showing permission from the absent parent(s) to avoid immigration hiccups.
- Travel insurance is absolutely worth considering for Caribbean vacations. Even with Beaches’ generous hurricane policy, insurance gives you protection against unexpected illness, family emergencies, travel delays, and lost luggage. Look for policies with good medical coverage and evacuation benefits.
- About a month before you arrive, you’ll get access to the Beaches online check-in portal. Filling out this form saves time during check-in and lets you communicate special requests, allergies, room preferences, and celebration details. This is also when you can pre-book spa appointments, specialty dining, and Sesame Street character experiences like character breakfasts, which often book up early.
- If you’re bringing little ones, ask about baby equipment before you arrive. Beaches Resorts provides free cribs, high chairs, and strollers when requested, but they can run out during busy times. They also offer a “Baby’s First Vacation” package with essentials like bottle warmers and baby monitors for an extra fee.
- Got someone in your group with mobility challenges? Contact the resort ahead of time to discuss accessibility needs. Most resorts have wheelchair-accessible rooms and public areas, but certain room locations might be better for minimizing walking distances.

Getting to Your Resort
Airport transfers are included with your Beaches booking, but knowing what to expect makes arrival day smoother:
After clearing customs and immigration, look for the Beaches Resort lounge or desk in the airport arrival area. Staff will guide you to your transportation – usually comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles. During busy times, there might be a short wait while they organize guests into vehicles, so having easily accessible snacks and entertainment for the kids is a smart move.
Transfer times vary quite a bit depending on which resort you’re visiting:
- Beaches Turks & Caicos: About 15-20 minutes from Providenciales Airport
- Beaches Negril: Around 1 hour and 30 minutes from Montego Bay Airport (can be longer during traffic)
For those longer Jamaica transfers, plan accordingly with bathroom breaks before you leave, motion sickness remedies if needed, and entertainment for the kids. The drive has beautiful scenery but can feel long after a flight. Club and Butler guests get priority transportation with fewer stops and sometimes nicer vehicles.
If convenience is your top priority, private transfers can be arranged for an extra fee through your travel advisor or the resort. This gives you direct service without stops at other resorts and is worth considering if you’re traveling with very young children or arriving late.
Kids’ Clubs 101: Tips To Help Your Kids Prepare For Beaches Resorts
One of the best parts of a Beaches vacation is the included kids’ programming, but knowing how to use it makes everything run more smoothly:
Plan to register your kids for their age-appropriate club soon after arrival, ideally before they’ll attend their first session. You’ll need to fill out forms with emergency contact info, medical details, authorized pickup people, and your child’s interests. For babies and toddlers, the staff will want to know about feeding schedules, nap routines, and comfort items. Having this information ready saves time during registration.
The kids’ clubs are split into age groups:
- Babies (0-24 months): Camp Sesame Nursery
- Toddlers (2-4 years): Camp Sesame
- Children (5-7 years): Kids Camp
- Pre-teens (8-10 years): Adventurers Club
- Tweens (11-14 years): Trench Town
- Teens (15-17 years): Club Liquid/XBox Lounge

Each age group has their own facilities and specially trained staff. Kids can go morning (9AM-12PM), afternoon (1PM-5PM), and evening (6PM-9PM) sessions, giving you flexibility to create your perfect mix of family time and adult time.
If your child has special needs, discuss accommodations during registration. Beaches offers an autism-friendly kids’ program with specially trained staff. For one-on-one attention, “Beach Buddies” private childcare is available for an hourly fee – great for kids with specific needs.
I recommend doing a short “test run” at the kids’ club early in your vacation, maybe while you’re still nearby at the pool. This helps kids get comfortable with the environment and staff before longer sessions. Many parents find that starting with a Sesame Street character activity helps create positive associations with the kids’ club spaces.
Weather Watch and Seasonal Tips
Caribbean weather affects your vacation experience, so knowing what to expect helps you prepare:
High season (December through April) has the most reliable weather with minimal rain and lower humidity. The trade-off is higher prices and more people. Evening temperatures can feel surprisingly cool, especially in January and February, so pack a light sweater for nighttime activities.
Shoulder seasons (May, June, November) offer that sweet spot of good weather, smaller crowds, and better prices. Rain showers tend to be brief, and hurricane risk is relatively low. These months are often the best value for families with flexible schedules.
Summer and early fall (July through October) coincide with hurricane season. While major storms are relatively rare, this period has higher humidity, more frequent rain showers, and the possibility of weather disruptions. Travel insurance becomes extra important during these months. The upside? Lower rates, special promotions, and fewer crowds except during major holidays.
If you’re traveling during hurricane season, familiarize yourself with Beaches’ hurricane policy, which typically offers generous rescheduling options if a named storm affects your trip. Download weather apps that show Caribbean forecasts and tropical storm updates so you can track conditions.
No matter when you go, pack for varied conditions with light rain jackets or ponchos – brief showers can happen year-round. The Caribbean sun is intense even on cloudy days, so sun protection is essential regardless of the forecast.
Making Restaurant Reservations
While most Beaches activities don’t need advance booking, certain dining experiences should be secured early to avoid disappointment:
You can make specialty dining reservations after you arrive for restaurants that require them. During busy times (holidays, spring break, summer), make these reservations on your first day, especially for any special celebration dinners. Butler service guests can have their butler handle these arrangements before arrival. Club level guests can get help from their concierge.

Beaches offers several premium experiences worth considering:
- Sesame Street Character Breakfast: A buffet meal where Sesame Street characters visit each table
- Character Tuck-In: Sesame Street characters visit your room for bedtime stories
- Private Beach/Garden Dinners: Romantic dining in secluded settings
- Red Lane Spa Treatments: Massages, facials, and body treatments
- Island Routes Excursions: Off-property adventures like catamaran cruises
These special experiences often book up, especially during busy periods. Butler guests get priority booking, while Club level guests can arrange these through their concierge. If you’re in Luxury level accommodations, visit the Island Routes desk or Sesame Street concierge soon after arrival to book.
Photography services are available throughout your stay, with professional photographers capturing family moments around the resort. Photo sessions themselves are free, but purchasing the images costs extra. Photo packages can be pre-purchased at a discount through your travel advisor or on the resort website before you go.

Tech and Staying Connected
Staying connected during your vacation requires a bit of planning, especially if you need to check in with home or work:
All Beaches Resorts offer free Wi-Fi throughout the property, but connection quality varies. For checking email and posting to social media, the standard Wi-Fi works fine in most public areas. If you need more reliable connectivity for video calls or work, premium Wi-Fi packages are available for an extra fee.
Before you leave, check with your mobile provider about international roaming options. Many carriers offer international day passes or Caribbean-specific plans for data, text, and calling. Setting these up before travel prevents surprise charges. Another option is buying a local SIM card when you arrive if your phone is unlocked.
Protecting your electronics from water and sand damage is essential. Waterproof phone cases, dry bags for cameras, and protective covers for tablets prevent expensive damage. Portable chargers are great for days spent away from your room, since outlets around pools and beaches are limited.
Helpful apps to download before arrival:
- The Sandals/Beaches app with maps, daily schedules, and restaurant info
- Weather apps with Caribbean forecasting
- Currency conversion apps for off-property adventures
- Entertainment apps with downloaded content for travel days
Special Celebrations With An Island Flair
Beaches Resorts are fantastic at making special occasions memorable, but a little advance planning ensures they’re celebrated properly:
If you’re celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, or other special event, let the resort know at least 30 days before arrival through your travel advisor or the online check-in portal. This information gets added to your reservation profile. For maximum recognition, remind the staff at check-in about your celebration and any special requests.
Complimentary celebration elements typically include room decorations and some cute cupcakes (if requested). For more elaborate celebrations, additional packages can be arranged through your travel advisor, including private dinners, spa experiences, photography sessions, or in-room goodies.
For a child’s birthday, consider booking character experiences that make the day extra special. The Sesame Street Character Breakfast can include birthday recognition, and character tuck-ins can be customized for birthday kids. Some families bring small decorations or special outfits to personalize the celebration.

For couples celebrating major anniversaries, vow renewal ceremonies can be arranged through the resort’s wedding department. These range from simple beach ceremonies to elaborate events with receptions, photography, and special dining.
First Day Strategy
Having a plan for your arrival day helps your family transition smoothly into vacation mode, especially after potentially long travel:
Pack a “first-day bag” in your carry-on with swimwear, sunscreen, medications, and a change of clothes. This lets you start enjoying the resort right away, even if your room isn’t ready when you arrive. Most resorts have changing facilities near the lobby where you can switch into vacation mode while waiting for your room.
After check-in, consider having lunch at one of the casual restaurants while waiting for your room. This gives everyone a chance to refuel after traveling and start adjusting to the resort vibe. The resort food trucks are perfect for a first-day lunch if you arrive early enough. After lunch, take an orientation tour to get familiar with the property layout, followed by pool or beach time to decompress from the journey.
While it’s tempting to pack your first day with activities, a more relaxed approach works better, especially if you’re crossing time zones or traveling with young kids. Save major excursions or fancy dining for later in your stay when everyone has adjusted to the new environment.
If you’re traveling with children, visit the kids’ club on your first day to complete registration and tour the facilities, even if you don’t plan to use it right away. This familiarizes kids with the space and staff in a low-pressure way, making later visits easier.
Departure Day Done Right
Your departure strategy deserves as much attention as your arrival planning to ensure a smooth transition home:
About 24 hours before departure, confirm your airport transfer arrangements. For most guests, the front desk will provide departure information, including pickup times based on your flight schedule. Butler and Club level guests can arrange this through their dedicated staff. Beaches typically schedules airport departures with plenty of time for check-in and security, which can be time-consuming at Caribbean airports, especially during busy periods.
The night before you leave, settle any outstanding charges to your room account. While most activities and dining are included, you might have charges for spa services, special experiences, gift shop purchases, or premium wines. Reviewing your bill the night before departure gives you time to fix any discrepancies before the morning rush.
On departure day, if your flight leaves later than the standard 11:00 AM checkout time, ask about late checkout if available (often free for Butler and Club level rooms, depending on availability). If late checkout isn’t possible, the resort provides hospitality areas where you can shower and change before leaving, with luggage storage available.

Make the most of your final day by enjoying the resort until departure time. Pack swimwear separately so you can have a last beach or pool session before changing for travel. Most resorts have departure lounges with refreshments, air conditioning, and comfortable seating while waiting for airport transfers.
Final Prep Tips Before You Go
- Document Management: Create a digital folder with all your travel documents, including resort confirmation, flight info, passport copies, travel insurance details, and pre-booked experiences. Share this folder with another traveling adult for backup and keep a printed copy of essential documents separate from originals.
- Home Preparation: Arrange mail holds, pet care, plant watering, and security measures for your home. Give your itinerary and contact information to a trusted friend or family member who can reach you in emergencies.
- Sleep Schedule Adjustment: Start adjusting sleep schedules a few days before departure, especially if traveling with young kids across time zones. Even a small adjustment helps with the transition to Caribbean schedules, where activities often start earlier than you might be used to at home.
- Pool/Beach Essentials: Don’t forget swim diapers if needed, reef-safe sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and perhaps a few small beach toys that are easy to pack.
- Communication Plan: Decide how and when you’ll check in with folks back home, and make sure everyone knows your international phone plan limitations.
- Medical Preparations: If anyone takes regular medications, pack extra in case of travel delays. A basic first aid kit with pain relievers, bandages, anti-diarrheal medicine, and motion sickness remedies is always useful.
- Currency Needs: While the resorts are cashless, you might want small bills for airport porters, off-resort excursions, or tipping certain service providers like butlers or spa staff.
- Entertainment: Load up tablets with movies, games or books for transit days and quiet time.
- Camera Ready: Make sure your camera batteries are charged, memory cards are empty, and you have any necessary accessories like waterproof cases.
- Flexibility Mindset: Most importantly, adopt that vacation mindset! While good preparation sets you up for success, remember that perfection isn’t the goal. The most memorable vacation moments often happen spontaneously, and small hiccups fade quickly when you’re surrounded by Caribbean beauty and family joy.
With these preparations complete, you’re all set to embrace the Beaches Resorts experience. Your thoughtful planning will help your family make the most of this amazing vacation destination, creating memories that last long after you’ve returned home. Wishing you sunny skies and perfect beach days!
